Do any of your patients suffer from loud snoring or sleep apnea? Over 3.0 million Canadians do!
The question is how to screen patients for sleep apnea without having to wait months to be tested at one of the hospital-based Sleep Disorder Programs?
To facilitate your assessment of patients suspected of having sleep apnea, we offer screening with overnight pulse oximetry and the Remmers Sleep Recorder. As well, our medical directors will provide a free interpretation of the results on your request.
Since 2006, Dr. Paul Champion and Dr. Tharwat Fera have been our Medical Directors. These esteemed physicians practice in the areas of Internal Medicine and Respirology, and they are both credentialed by the Diagnostic Accreditation Program of the College of Physicians and Surgeons of BC to interpret oximetry tracings.
Simply request an interpretation with your referral for overnight pulse oximetry. These services continue to be offered free of charge. With a detailed interpretation, you should then be in a better position to prescribe a CPAP trial, or to refer the patient for further study at one of the sleep programs.
Please also note that we now have eight Respiratory Therapists to serve patients. Two of these Therapists are fluent in both Cantonese and Mandarin; they are supported by four additional staff who are also fluent in these languages.
Most importantly, our role is to provide effective therapy for obstructive sleep apnea. We offer CPAP therapy, oral appliances, and solutions for snoring. Having sleep apnea ourselves, we are empathetic with our patients, which is one of the reasons our patients do so well on therapy. We offer a 30-day free trial for CPAP therapy, along with a commitment to long-term follow-up.
If you would like to receive an informational package, please contact our office and we would be glad to send or drop off some information to you. In addition, we would be glad to discuss with you about our services and to demonstrate the newest model of CPAP equipment and screening device to you.
